Venture Investment Communication
Investment communication–helping companies tell their story to the investment community–is BizClarity’s core specialty.
BizClarity helps emerging-growth and high-tech companies pitch to:
- Venture capitalists
- Angel investors
- Investment bankers
- Potential strategic partners
Private companies can be at any stage: seed, early, post-revenue, expansion, pre-IPO. I help public companies sharpen their communications with Wall Street. I also help venture capital firms prepare their communications to limited partners and institutional investors when raising new funds.
The communication can be in any form:
- A formal presentation to a room full of investors
- A private meeting around a laptop computer
- PowerPoint slides used as a send-ahead or leave-behind
- An elevator speech
- An executive summary, or venture fair one-pager
- A full business plan
- A website or e-brochure used to promote the business
BizClarity has pioneered a process of remote coaching for working with venture clients in any part of the country. Learn more about how remote coaching works.
How to Talk to Money
I know what investors are looking for and the questions they need answered before they can go the next step. I know what to say. What not to say.
Investors have a very short attention span, out of necessity. I show you how to explain your business in the short time you have investors’ full attention.
To do so requires finding the essence of your business and articulating the reasons you will win. And leaving out all the detail that weighs down initial investor presentations.
I’ll help you clarify and focus your message so that investors “get it” in ten minutes.
Strategic Presentations
My approach is strategic. I begin by understanding what makes your company special–the “secret sauce” of your technology, your competitive advantage, customer value proposition, revenue model, go-to-market strategy, and capital plan. Everything else flows from that understanding.
I understand technology and technology markets, and I’ll help you explain the critical factors in terms that non-technical investors can understand, but that won’t offend the scientists and engineers in the room.
Then I help you select the right level of detail, sequence the ideas, and flesh out the examples and key graphics. I know what to say first, second, third to break through investors’ skepticism before they lose interest.
I’ll coach you to avoid the common mistake of spending too much time on your product or service, and show you how to talk about the whole business.
I build your argument for investment in three ways:
1) Presentation Writing: Planning and sequencing the ideas, slides and narrative. (No matter where you are, I can do this work through remote coaching.)
2) Presentation Delivery: Coaching you to deliver with personality, energy, control, and to connect to your audience.
3) Document Writing: Executive summary, “one-pagers,” website copy, PowerPoint decks. We also fix business plans.
I work to get the content right first. Then I work with you to perfect your delivery. If necessary I help you overcome any delivery issues, large or small, that might handicap your presentation.
If the output is written, or includes PowerPoint slides, I’ll write and edit your message into a compelling piece that grabs investors in the first pass.
With BizClarity’s help, your presentation will stand out from the crowd. It will give investors enough information in the first few minutes to hold their attention and make them want to know more–the first and most critical step to securing the investment you need.
